A full custom built frame by ZEROFOUR will make you more efficient and will be the best bike you will ever own.
Our full custom geometry option means that if you can't find the right size of stock geometry, need woman specific sizing or even want an existing geometry replicated we can provide this within our standard price.
Your frame is an extension of your body and therefore fit is one of the most important factors in selecting a bicycle. The human body is a very forgiving machine and will adapt to an inappropriate fit on the bike without you realising, but in doing so the possibility of injury is significantly increased and your potential efficiency and comfort is severely restricted.
So how do you know your fit is optimum?
Some people use personal intuition, some use generic shop derived fit formulas, however this is only just the start. The only true way to get a correct fit and optimum comfort is to custom make a frame taking into consideration more than just the rider’s physical dimensions. We want to take into account your flexibility, strength, fitness as well as considering past or present injuries and preferences. Whilst two subjects may have very similar physiques they will have quite different needs in that which they require from a new bike.
The first steps to getting your hands on your new masterpiece is to take a few body measurements from our instructions or visit us for a fitting (by appointment).
In order to optimise your fit we need to know all about you; your cycling discipline, your preferences, riding style, past and present injuries and if you suffer from any discomfort in any areas.
Next we want to know the dimensions of your existing bike so we can cross reference it with the new frame design, seeing your current set up gives us a good idea of what works for you and what needs correction. All this information allows us to build you a bike that performs and fits like no other you have owned.
We can also incorporate things that you like and remove the things you dislike. |
Measuring Instructions
INSIDE LEG
1) Stand in socks or barefoot with your heels and buttocks against a wall, feet approx. 8" apart. Place a spirit level or hardback book (approx 1" wide) between your legs and push up against your crotch firmly, roughly applying 25lbs of pressure, thus mimicking saddle pressure. With the spirit level level or the book flat against the wall take a measurement from the floor to the top of the book or level (fig 1).
2) STERNUM NOTCH
Now in the same position as above measure from the ground to your sternum notch, this is the base of the v just above your rib cage ( fig 2).
3) ARM LENGTH
With your arm held out to your side parallel to the ground, measure in a straight line from the inside of your armpit (just touching your ribs) to the web between your thumb and index finger (fig 3).
SHOULDER WIDTH
Measure your shoulder width from the outside of the bony protrusions at the top of each shoulder.
WEIGHT
Record your current weight (either metric or imperial is acceptable).
FOOT SIZE
Record your cycle shoe size.
FLEXIBILITY
Can you touch your toes or how far can you get? |
